Court records reveal surveillance video, witness statements, and new details about the final hours before a Charlotte woman was found dead behind a church and allegedly killed by Lorenza Inman Jr.
CHARLOTTE, NC — A chilling paper trail laid out in newly filed court documents paints a disturbing picture of what investigators say led to the violent death of a Charlotte woman whose body was later discovered behind a church.
According to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police affidavit, 38-year-old Lorenza Thomas Inman Jr. is facing murder, assault on a female, and misdemeanor domestic violence charges in connection with the death of Frezja Matisse Baker.
LAST PHONE CALL
Court records state Baker was last heard from on December 4, 2025, when family members spoke with her by phone. During that call, relatives reportedly heard her boyfriend — later identified as Inman — in the background. After that night, Baker allegedly stopped answering calls and messages altogether.
Days later, on December 6, Baker was officially reported missing.
GAS STATION VIDEO SHOWS VIOLENT ENCOUNTER
Detectives say surveillance footage from a Mobil gas station on LaSalle Street captured a troubling interaction between Baker and Inman just hours before she vanished.
According to the affidavit, video allegedly shows Inman placing his hand on the back of Baker’s head and neck, forcefully shoving her, throwing an object at her back inside the store, and towering over her in what investigators describe as an aggressive confrontation. The two later left together in Baker’s Honda Accord, with Inman driving.
CAR FOUND — BODY INSIDE
On December 11, CMPD officers located Baker’s vehicle parked behind a church on Sanders Avenue. Inside the passenger seat, officers found Baker deceased, suffering from apparent head trauma, still wearing the same clothing seen in the gas station footage days earlier.
Surveillance video from nearby homes reportedly shows the vehicle was not present behind the church on December 4 — but was there by the morning of December 5.

The affidavit also details statements from a witness who told police that Inman — known by the nickname “Nuna” — allegedly admitted that Baker was shot in the head during an argument involving a gun inside the car.
The witness claimed Inman said the gun “went off” during a struggle and that Baker was left inside her vehicle. Police found Baker inside the car with the same clothing on.
Boyfriend Arrested
On Friday, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police announced that Inman was arrested in Maxton, North Carolina, before being transported back to Charlotte. He remains in jail without bond.

I would see this junkie all the time when I worked on beatties Ford road. He should have been locked up from the start. I blame the court, judge and The DA
…..this is absolutely absurd! What a disgusting individual. Then had the audacity to tell someone, “…the gun went off…” as if it were an accident. If that was the truth why did they have to hunt him down and extradite him back to Charlotte? Her family member told me that she has a toddler! I pray that the court/jury takes all of his actions into consideration, from the footage from the gas station etc. May her family find peace that surpasses all understanding.
He should’ve never been out roaming the earth from the beginning!!!! People get more time behind bars for drugs than murder !!!! Fry his a*s !!!
Put the animal in a wood chipper asap
