On Saturday morning around 5:30 a.m., the Lexington Police Department received multiple 911 calls from concerned residents near South Main Street, reporting two vehicles aggressively ramming into each other while gunshots were heard. The erratic chase spanned Snider Avenue, Peacock Avenue, Austin Street, and Stamey Avenue, causing significant alarm in the neighborhood.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a silver 2002 Saturn that had crashed into a home at 103 Peacock Avenue. Near the wreckage, they found a 61-year-old man, Ronald Eugene Vaughn. A second crash site was located nearby on Snider Avenue, though fortunately, no residents were injured despite property damage.
Authorities determined that the violent altercation stemmed from an ongoing domestic dispute between 45-year-old Tinisha Nelson Coleman and Vaughn, who were in a relationship. According to the investigation, the two engaged in a dangerous chase, repeatedly colliding with each other’s vehicles.

Coleman was driving a white 2013 Volkswagen Passat while Vaughn was in the Saturn that ultimately crashed. The confrontation escalated near Peacock Avenue, where Coleman allegedly fired a gun, striking Vaughn in the head. In a desperate attempt to escape, Vaughn reversed at high speed, which resulted in him crashing into a residence.
Shortly after the shooting, officers tracked Coleman to her residence on Ovada Avenue, where she was arrested without incident. She now faces multiple serious charges, including:
- Assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious bodily injury
- Discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle
Coleman remains in custody at the Davidson County Jail without bond. Her first court appearance is scheduled for April 14, 2025, in Lexington District Court.
Vaughn was immediately transported to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for emergency treatment. As of the latest update, his condition remains unknown.
