A Kinston man has been arrested and charged after police say he killed his 2-year-old daughter, Gynie Wade, in a hit-and-run accident during a heated parking lot altercation at Carver Courts Apartment Complex on Friday evening.
Details of the hit-and-run
According to Kinston Police, emergency services were called to the Carver Courts Apartment Complex around 7:56 p.m. following reports of a hit-and-run involving two pedestrians. When officers arrived, they found 2-year-old Gynie Wade and a 35-year-old man suffering from serious injuries. Gynie was rushed to UNC Lenoir Hospital, where she tragically succumbed to her injuries. The second victim, an unidentified man, is expected to survive.

Father Arrested in Connection with Daughter’s Death
Authorities quickly identified Gynie’s father, 35-year-old Rashaun Wade, as the suspect in the fatal hit-and-run. Police allege that Wade fled the scene in a pickup truck after striking both his daughter and the other man following the argument. Wade was apprehended when he later arrived at the hospital to check on his daughter.

The Kinston Police Department confirmed that Wade faces multiple charges, including second-degree murder, two counts of felony hit-and-run, felony serious injury by vehicle, and driving while impaired (DWI).
