A Raleigh mother is behind bars on a $1 million bond after being accused of doing the absolute most to her own child.

35-year-old Kayla Collinsworth was arrested and charged with felony intentional child abuse causing serious bodily injury, according to Raleigh police and court documents obtained by The North Carolina Beat. 

According to the arrest warrant, Kayla Collinsworth is accused of going off on her 15-year-old child in a brutal way. The documents say the teen suffered some disturbing injuries that included bite marks on the cheek and neck, a swollen or possibly cut nose, and red marks all over the neck and chest.

And if that wasn’t bad enough, court docs also say the teen endured “protracted impairment of mental and emotional function.”

$1 Million Bond

After she was booked, Collinsworth was slapped with a $1 MILLION bond.

Her next court date is set for Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 2 p.m. for a disposition hearing in Wake County.
