A man from North Carolina is now in custody after being accused of shooting two women, resulting in the death of one of them.
The suspect, Jarriel Monte Crandle, aged 39 and hailing from Greenville, was apprehended at the Knights Inn on South Memorial Drive and is facing charges of murder, attempted murder, and illegal possession of a firearm.
The Greenville Police Department responded to a call about gunshots at a residence on Montclair Drive late Tuesday night. Upon reaching the scene, they discovered two women with gunshot wounds. Sadly, Tammy Greene, aged 55, succumbed to her injuries, while the other victim, Karla Keely White, aged 34, was rushed to ECU Health Medical Center and is anticipated to recover.
Authorities suspect that the shooting was deliberate and that Crandle was acquainted with both women, although the exact motive remains unclear.
Crandle is currently detained without bail for the murder and attempted murder charges, and a $25,000 bond has been set for the firearm possession charge.
