Prosecutors Say Infant’s Injuries Were Like Being “Tossed Out of a Car”
GREENSBORO, NORTH CAROLINA — 22-year-old Keaja Dixon was charged in connection with the death of her 2-month-old baby, according to court documents obtained Friday.
Warrants reveal Dixon faces first-degree murder and intentional child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury after her infant suffered life-threatening brain trauma, bilateral hemorrhages, and a skull fracture.
During her first court appearance, prosecutors painted a disturbing picture of what happened to the helpless child, saying the baby’s injuries were so severe they were equivalent to being “tossed out of a car.”
Dixon appeared before a judge Friday, her face showing little emotion as prosecutors outlined the horrific details. She is currently being held without bond at the Guilford County Jail.

If convicted, Dixon could face life in prison without parole or even the death penalty, prosecutors said.
Authorities have not released additional information on what led up to the baby’s fatal injuries, but the investigation remains ongoing.
