Florida Mom Tries to Drown Kids in Late-Night Pool Horror Caught After IG Posts Spark Family Rescue
This is absolutely heartbreaking.
A young mother in Florida has been charged with three counts of attempted first-degree murder after authorities say she tried to drown her three small children at a community pool—and the whole thing came right after she posted disturbing Instagram videos.
Hillsborough County deputies say they responded to a 911 call around 1:28 a.m. Wednesday at a community pool on Sacramento Street in Valrico.
When they pulled up, they found 24-year-old Shaniece Willingham still on the pool deck. But her children—an 8-month-old, 2-year-old, and 3-year-old—had already been rescued by family members who rushed to the scene.
Officials said Willingham had left her parent’s house with her kids after a heated argument and started posting to Instagram shortly after.
In those videos, she reportedly said she was going to harm herself and her children.
When family got to the pool, they say they witnessed Willingham throwing all three of her children into the water before jumping in behind them and holding them underwater.
Miraculously, the family was able to act quickly—saving all the children from drowning, and even pulling Willingham out.
Police confirmed the kids were not injured.
BAKER ACTED & NOW FACING CHARGES
Willingham was taken into custody under Florida’s Baker Act, which allows authorities to detain someone showing signs of mental illness or danger to themselves or others.
