A Fayetteville man arrested in Christiansburg, Virginia, will soon be extradited back to North Carolina after a week-long search related to a shocking shooting incident in Cumberland County.

Michael Justin Davis, 42, was taken into custody on Saturday, May 31, 2025, by the Christiansburg Police Department. His arrest comes days after he was named the primary suspect in a drive-by-style shooting that left five homes on Sara Lane riddled with bullet holes.

What Happened in Fayetteville?

According to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, Davis is accused of firing multiple rounds into five different residences over Memorial Day weekend. The terrifying spree of gunfire fortunately resulted in no injuries, but rattled the Sara Lane community and concerns over public safety.





Authorities immediately launched a manhunt for Davis, describing him as armed and dangerous. An alert issued on May 28 identified Davis as potentially traveling in a blue 2017 Chevrolet Colorado with North Carolina license plate EKL-5707.

Michael Justin Davis, a Fayetteville man arrested in connection with a drive-by shooting, is facing multiple charges after a week-long manhunt ended with his capture in Virginia.

Davis is currently awaiting extradition back to North Carolina, where he will face multiple charges related to the shootings.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said it will release additional information once Davis is back in their custody. The investigation is still ongoing.
