A fatal shooting occurred Friday in the Fenton Parking Deck in Cary, where 23-year-old Cory Edward McNeill lost his life. Authorities have confirmed that McNeill and the alleged shooter, 24-year-old Malik Emaje Scott-McClarin, knew each other.
According to the Cary Police Department, they received a call around 8:45 p.m. regarding a shooting at the parking deck. Shortly after officers arrived, Scott-McClarin contacted authorities and voluntarily surrendered.

Scott-McClarin was employed by Sunstates Security, a firm based in Raleigh providing services for Fenton. However, police stated the shooting was unrelated to his job. Notably, Sunstates Security does not arm its personnel, according to the firm.
