The 2021 Honda Accord involved in the Farmville road rage hit and run is registered to Codie Ray Baker of Siesta Lane. The vehicle fled the scene after striking the victim’s car.

Mujahid Eljack, who spoke with The North Carolina Beat, said the incident happened just before 5:40 p.m. as he was leaving Walstonburg, headed to Greenville East on U.S. 264.

It Was Supposed to Be the Best Day of His Life

Eljack recalled driving the speed limit at 55 mph with cruise control set when the Honda flew up behind him, trying to force him to speed up. When Eljack didn’t, the driver sped around him, braked hard, and began shouting.

“He skipped me, got in front of me and fully stopped,” Eljack said. “I avoided the crash and then he was talking a lot of sh*t, calling me names.”

After telling the man to just “go,” the Honda driver pulled off — but suddenly stopped again. That’s when both men briefly stepped out of their vehicles although nothing came out of it.

Hit-And-Run Caught On Video

Back in his car, Eljack pulled out his phone and began recording. In the video shared with The North Carolina Beat, the Honda Accord is seen in front of Eljack on a two-lane road as he narrates that the man had been harassing him.

As the video continues, the Honda drifts right, and the driver flips off Eljack. But just as Eljack tries to pass, the Honda veers back into his lane and hits his car — with the impact clearly heard in the footage.

NC Highway Patrol Trooper Didn’t Charge the Driver

“I stopped and called the cops,” Eljack said. “I showed the video to the officer and he told me the guy was wrong. He f*cked up.”

According to Eljack, the trooper documented the hit-and-run in the report — but declined to accept the video or take photos of the damage. Eljack said he explicitly asked to file charges but was brushed off.

“He said, ‘I’m going to write it down on the report that he hit you, don’t worry about that part,’” Eljack recalled.

Crash Report Confirms Fault — But No Charges Filed

The North Carolina Beat obtained the official crash report from the N.C. Highway Patrol, written by Trooper C.D. Hooks. According to the report, Vehicle 1 — the Honda Accord — “made an unsafe lane change and collided with Vehicle 2 on the roadway.” It also states that “Vehicle 1 left the scene.”

Despite this, no charges were filed.

Who Is the Driver?

While the crash report did not name the Honda driver, the license plate came back to Codie Ray Baker of Siesta Lane in Walstonburg, North Carolina.

Baker currently has a DWI charge pending in Greene County from last year. According to court documents, Baker registered a 0.23 blood alcohol level on the breathalyzer test–nearly three times the legal limit.

He is also a Wilson Iron Works employee, a welding company based in Wilson.

Codie Ray Baker, a Walstonburg man and alleged government employee, is identified as the owner of the Honda involved in the Farmville road rage hit and run.

The North Carolina Beat confirmed that Baker is the registered owner of the vehicle, and evidence suggests he was also the driver involved in the incident. Records show the car is registered to a government employee, although it remains unclear what agency Baker may work for.

Eljack Wants Charges Filed

Eljack said Baker’s insurance company paid for the damage, but that isn’t enough.
