A family is looking for answers after their 2-year-old baby boy died during a dental procedure at Valleygate Dental Surgery Center in Greensboro Thursday morning.
Er’Mias Mitchell, a bright-eyed toddler traveled to Valleygate for an early morning appointment to have caps placed on his front teeth. The child’s grandmother told local reporters that the procedure was scheduled for 6 a.m. and that the family made the drive from Salisbury to Greensboro.

She said little Er’Mias was taken to the back around 6 a.m. for the dental work. But within 30 to 40 minutes, ambulances and police officers started arriving. Instead of telling the family inside the dentist office, the family said they weren’t notified until after Er’Mias had arrived at the emergency room.

IDK why kids are going to the dentist at 2 yrs old and getting caps. They will get their permanent teeth at 6 or 7. So ridiculous. if you take care of their teeth and brush them AM and PM. Never let them sleep while sucking on a bottle containing a sweet liquid, such as juice or Kool-Aid. I don’t want to hear “get them used to the dentist”. is poppycock. Mine didn’t go to a dentist until 9, and then they only needed a cleaning because they had nice teeth and still do
Amen, straight facts 👌🏿
this is so sad, my child had a surgery here, they are so rushed, they sent my kid out still completely sedated we had to monitor him all the way home, i told my wife they are going to kill a child and a few months later it happened,
I’m trying to understand why the family member was not in the room with the two year old child in the first place , confused
Now a days, they don’t want the parents back there with their kids. Every time I try to go back with my kids they tell me to wait in the waiting area or my car. Once the child turns 2yo the dentist feel like they’re big enough to be in there without a parent.
I’m sorry but absolutely no one is taking my child anywhere without me. If a dentist Insisted I wait in the waiting room I would immediately take my child and find a new dentist and report them. Telling a parent that they can’t be with their TODDLER is strange behavior.
I totally agree
