FRESHMAN STAR EDDIE LOVE JR ARRESTED AND CUT FROM TEAM
East Carolina University’s football program is making headlines after true freshman running back Eddie Love Jr. was arrested and dismissed from the team following some serious charges in Greenville, North Carolina.

According to police reports, the 18-year-old was busted on September 6, 2025, after allegedly breaking into not one—but TWO vehicles with intent to steal. The cars—a Ford Explorer and a Hyundai Elantra—were parked near the scene when Love was spotted by authorities wearing latex gloves.
When Greenville police pulled up, Love gave them a fake name and dipped. Unfortunately, the foot chase ended in a nearby residential driveway, where he was taken into custody.
Love was booked into Pitt County Jail and charged with:
-
2 counts of breaking & entering a motor vehicle
-
2 counts of resisting a public officer
He was released Monday, September 8, after posting a $10,000 bond.
ECU didn’t waste time giving the RB the boot.
Love Jr., originally from Fort Walton Beach, Florida, was one of the highest-rated recruits in the Pirates’ 2025 class—holding an 87 overall rating and ranked as the No. 81 running back in the nation, according to 247Sports.
