DY NASTY BUSTED?

A newly opened Nino’s Lounge on Capitol Blvd events were shut down after a edited flyer — allegedly traced back to local radio figure and Hazardous Records owner Damian “DY Nasty” Powell — made its way to the landlord.

DY Nasty, aka Damian Powell, is a Raleigh radio station owner of HOT 97.9 and Hazardous Records.

In a Facebook Live posted Tuesday, Nino Thomas, who opened Nino’s Lounge on August 29, publicly confronted DY Nasty after learning the landlord told him that it wasn’t happening.

One of the events scheduled was the “NINE ONE NINE” party (featuring rapper BIG YBA) on September 19 and Jonathan’s Reunion on September 27.

The flyer sent to the landlord included a caption reading, “they gonna shoot that shit up!” — language that made the landlord call up Nino.

In the live video, Nino wanted answers about who sent the fake edited flyer to the landlord.

DY Nasty — who owns and operates HOT 97.9 and has a record label called Hazardous Records — can be heard in the clip and offers multiple explanations for how the flyer reached the landlord.

At various points he blames a radio personality identified as K‑Spice, but he admits he didn’t initially know Nino was the lounge’s owner.

He said he got his building, Kiss Bar, at the shopping center in March of this year.

Initially, the landlord was not going to allow venues of the sort to rent the space—until the property manager spoke with the landlord and got it approved.

DY Nasty said the owner warned them that if anything happened in the shopping center, they were going to shut them down.

“So you got to stay with me. Now I got to protect what I got,” DY Nasty told Nino. “I’m $32,000 in.”

Nino responded that he’s $24,000 in.

DY Nasty then started talking about his issues with a man named Rome Jetter, saying he did business with him back when he owned a park in Raleigh.

He said at first he didn’t want to approve the NINE-ONE-NINE event that Rome was throwing—but eventually he did, and according to him, it ended up getting shot up.

“So now my taste with Rome is all fucked up, now cause you done fucked up my shit,” DY Nasty said as he was copping pleas.

He said he and Rome later hashed it out over a glass of wine, saying he forgave Rome for the shooting.

DY Nasty said they later did business again—this time claiming Rome’s girl was stealing money at the gate at an event, to which DY Nasty was repeating, “Oh you gone f**k me over,” as he was telling Nino the story.

“I just gave you $1,400 n***a, on Saturday, you gon f**k me? Iiigt, iight, I ain’t got to fight you…I’ll get you, my time gone come…I’ll get you, DY Nasty was saying about Rome.

Nino then asked DY Nasty, “So this was your time right here?”

DY Nasty responded, “This was my get back. This was my get back.”
