Corporal Rayshawn Taylor of the Durham Police Department has found himself in hot water, facing serious charges of first-degree kidnapping, sexual servitude, and sexual battery. The allegations stem from an incident that occurred while he was on duty back in August with a male member of the community.
Having served the Durham Police for a decade, Taylor’s career came crashing down following his arrest on Monday. Investigators allege that he engaged in inappropriate behavior with a male member of the community on August 21st. The victim stepped forward to report the incident, which hurried Taylor to resign the very next day.
After the report of the allegations, a criminal investigation was immediately launched. Durham police reached out to the FBI, and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation who also joined the investigation.
According to authorities, Taylor was acting in his official capacity during the alleged misconduct.
He was apprehended at his residence in Mebane, where investigators also conducted a search.
The investigation is ongoing.
