DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham New Year’s Day shooting turned deadly after a domestic dispute escalated into gunfire at a Durham apartment complex, leaving one man dead and two others injured, according to police.

Authorities identified the victim as 40-year-old Breon Currie, who was killed during the violent confrontation on Delbert Avenue.

Officers said the incident occurred in the 4200 block of the street. Police confirmed that two additional people were shot during the incident. Both victims were transported to the hospital and were initially listed in serious condition but are expected to recover.
