Fatal dispute between two brothers at their family’s funeral home in North Carolina has been ruled as self-defense

A district attorney in Pitt County, North Carolina, has determined that Tyler Rountree, who fatally shot his older brother Terence Rountree Jr. at their family’s funeral home on September 6, acted in self-defense.

The shooting happened around 4 p.m. on Friday, September 6. According to a press release from the Greenville police, an unidentified man flagged down one of their officers near 14th Street and Dickinson Avenue to report a nearby shooting. Officers quickly responded to Rountree Family Mortuary.

Two men arrested in the murder of 22-year-old North Carolina mother from Kinston

Upon arrival, they discovered 34-year-old Terence Rountree Jr. with a gunshot wound. He was taken to ECU Health Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Sources familiar to the incident told The North Carolina Beat that Terence Jr younger brother, Tyler Rountree, is the one who pulled the trigger. The source also noted to us that Tyler’s brother, Terence was the alleged aggressor in the situation and a “troubled” person.

Our sources also informed us that Tyler was subjected to bullying by Terence even at a young age. It has been reported that the two brothers got into a physical altercation at their parents’ funeral home, during which a gun “went off” amid the alleged confrontation.

The Greenville police confirmed that the shooting stemmed from a dispute, and while no charges have been filed yet, the case has been forwarded to the district attorney’s office for further review.

    However, prayers of comfort to this family, a mother has to bury a son and support her other son that is responsible for his death
