A Charlotte woman left behind more than just a trail of bruises after a heated altercation at another woman’s home. Taquana Price, 35, is facing charges after allegedly breaking into her a woman’s apartment following a verbal spat that took place earlier in the evening.
According to court documents obtained by The NC Beat, the drama unfolded on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at around 1:40 a.m. Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to a report of breaking and entering at an apartment located at 6925 Fernwood Drive. The victim, who requested anonymity, told officers that she and Price had been drinking at a friend’s house before things took a violent turn.
The two women got into a verbal altercation, after which the victim decided to leave and return to her home. However, it wasn’t long before the situation escalated. She said she heard banging on her living room window, only to discover Price had broken in through the window.
What followed was a dragged-out brawl, according to the court documents. The victim claimed she was able to overpower Price briefly, getting on top of her to “fight her off.” After the physical altercation, the victim said she forced Price out of the apartment, but not before leaving a noticeable mark on each other.
Officers arrived at the scene to find the victim with bruising, swelling, and visible blood on her face. Meanwhile, Price wasn’t in much better shape, with scratches and bruises of her own. Seems to us that Price’s the injuries weren’t from glass, suggesting they resulted from the beat down the victim put on her.
Price was later found hiding at a friend’s house in the same neighborhood. She was detained, read her rights, and admitted to assaulting the victim. Despite the severity of the altercation, Price was released on a written promise to appear in court.
Officers also reported finding strands of Price’s hair inside the victim’s home.
