Charlotte woman charged for throwing her 8-month old baby against a brick wall

A Charlotte, North Carolina, woman seemingly has lost her damn mind after CMPD says she forcefully threw her 8-month-old daughter against a brick wall.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg (CMPD) police arrested 35-year-old Shanelle Ridgeway on June 13. According to police, Ridgeway argued with her daughter’s father as she dropped the child off early on June 13. Police said the incident happened at an apartment complex on Hoskins Mill Lane

According to CMPD, Ridgeway picked her daughter up while in a child safety seat and threw her against the brick wall. Police said Ridgeway reached into the car and threw the child’s entire baby seat that, went airborne before hitting the brick wall. After Ridgeway threw her child, police said she fled the scene. 

When paramedics arrived on the scene, the 8-month-old was found with bruises on her forehead and bruising on her should and chest area, court documents read. The child was taken to a hospital and placed in a cervical collar. Ridgeway was charged with misdemeanor child abuse.
