The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating the death of a woman found crashed down an embankment on Shamrock Drive near Hickory Grove Road as a homicide.
The victim, identified as Kennedi Aniyah Flora Jones, was discovered late Wednesday night around 11:20 p.m. Police responded to reports of the crash and found Jones inside the vehicle. Despite being transported to a nearby hospital, she succumbed to her injuries.
Details of the Investigation
At this time, police have not disclosed how Jones died or why the case is being treated as a homicide. However, neighbors in the area have come forward with information that could shed light on the situation.
Terry Johnson, a local resident, told WSOC-TV 9 that he heard gunshots late on Christmas night near the crash site.
“When I first came out here, the only thing I heard was the gunfire…I said, ‘man I get so tired of this,'” Johnson shared.

As authorities continue their investigation, the circumstances surrounding Jones’ death remain unclear. No additional details have been released at this time.
