WASHINGTON COUNTY, N.C. — A North Carolina teen is dead — and now questions are swirling after the 16-year-old was involved in a school fight just HOURS before he was gunned down.
According to a video obtained by The North Carolina Beat, Cameron Sanders, a student at Washington County High School, was caught up in a fight on school campus.

FIGHT BREAKS OUT ON CAMPUS
Sources say the situation got so out of hand that officials had to place both Washington County High School and a nearby elementary school on a “soft lockdown.”

HOURS LATER… SHOTS FIRED
Just hours after that fight, tragedy struck.
Around 1 a.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2026, deputies and Plymouth police responded to a shots-fired call in the 1100 block of Roosevelt Avenue.
When they arrived, they found Cameron suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He was rushed to Washington County Regional Hospital but sadly, he did not survive
Right now, the case is being investigated as a homicide, with both the sheriff’s office and the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) involved.
As of now, no suspects or persons of interest have been announced.
