Following the incident, Brown fled the area on foot. Apex police located and arrested him shortly afterward. He has been charged with voluntary manslaughter, and officials say additional charges are possible as the investigation continues.

Bradford Brown, a 35-year-old Apex resident, is charged with voluntary manslaughter after allegedly striking and killing his child’s grandmother during a custody exchange.

Another unidentified individual who was reportedly in the vehicle at the time also fled the scene and remains at large.

The case will be presented to a grand jury on April 22.
