The MrBeast lawsuit filed in federal court accuses Beast Industries of sexual harassment, retaliation, and forcing a top female executive to work through maternity leave before firing her.
GREENVILLE, N.C. – YouTube billionaire James “MrBeast” Donaldson is staring down a savage lawsuit that paints his Beast Industries empire as a straight-up frat house nightmare for women — complete with a leaked “How to Succeed In MrBeast Production” handbook that allegedly told staff “it’s okay for the boys to be childish,” “No Does Not Mean No,” and “the amount of hours you work is irrelevant.”
A high-level former employee, Lorrayne Mavromatis, filed a 24-page federal complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina accusing MrBeastYouTube, LLC and GameChanger 24/7, LLC of FMLA interference and retaliation, wrongful discharge, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. She’s seeking back pay, front pay, liquidated damages, punitive damages, reinstatement, and attorneys’ fees.
Mavromatis — a rising star who went from Head of Instagram to COO of MrBeast’s Verticals division with a $250K salary — says she was demoted, isolated, forced to grind through maternity leave, and axed just weeks after returning from having her baby.
“It’s a Boys’ World at Beast Industries”
According to the lawsuit, despite MrBeast’s massive online presence, internally it was operating like a “start-up” run by the boys for the boys.
The company allegedly handed out a handbook that included:
- “It’s okay for the boys to be childish”
- “[I]f talent wants to draw a d**k on the white board in the video or do something stupid, let them.”
- “Do everything you can to empower the boys when filming.”
- “No Does Not Mean No”
- “The Amount of hours you work is irrelevant.”
Mavromatis claims she and other women endured sexual harassment that was “condoned and/or perpetuated by their supervisors.” Former CEO James Warren allegedly made her meet him at his home for one-on-one meetings while commenting on her appearance, dismissed a male client’s unwanted advances by telling her she “should be honored,” and explained why Jimmy Donaldson wouldn’t work with her on projects: “You’re a beautiful woman and her appearance had a certain sexual effect on Jimmy.”
Warren allegedly told her Jimmy “gets really awkward around beautiful women” and implied he’d get… uncomfortable. Mavromatis says she started wearing baggy clothes and baseball caps to avoid negative career impact.
Formal Complaint Allegedly Turned To Instant Retaliation?
In November 2023, Mavromatis says she finally made a formal complaint to Head of HR Susan “Sue” Parisher (Donaldson’s own mother) about the harassment and hostile environment. Parisher allegedly promised a thorough investigation and said she’d “take care of the matter.”
Two months later — the same day Mavromatis was told her claims were “unsubstantiated” — she was demoted and transferred to Social Media Manager for the struggling Merchandise division (the one employees reportedly called the department where “careers go to die”).
The Maternity Leave Nightmare
Fast forward to January 2025. Mavromatis tells her boss she’s pregnant and will need FMLA leave for the birth. The lawsuit claims MrBeast never provided her with the required FMLA notices or eligibility info — and then allegedly forced her to keep working anyway.
She claims the interference caused her to lose precious bonding time with her baby and worsened her mental and physical health.
FIRED
Less than three weeks after she returned full-time from FMLA/pregnancy leave, on November 6, 2025, Mavromatis was terminated. HR and her supervisor allegedly told her the position was being eliminated because she was “too high caliber” for the demoted merch role she’d been stuck in after her harassment complaint.
They offered her a severance deal with a full release of claims and strict confidentiality — and dangled an extra month of health insurance for her and the baby if she signed. She refused. Shortly afterward, MrBeast allegedly posted a Social Media Content Manager job and filled it with a man.
Mavromatis is suing under the Family and Medical Leave Act for both interference (forcing work during protected leave and firing her right after) and retaliation. She also brings North Carolina claims for intentional infliction of emotional distress and wrongful discharge in violation of public policy (sex discrimination and retaliation).
She says the ordeal caused severe depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, and ongoing psychiatric treatment.
The complaint was Wednesday .
