Authorities launch urgent search after 7-year-old missing in Asheboro is last seen leaving on foot near Forest Hills Drive.

The FBI’s Charlotte office has joined the desperate search in Randolph County for 7-year-old Liam A. King, a non-verbal child with cognitive impairments, who was reported missing on Sunday morning, September 7, 2025, according to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.

As of Monday afternoon, Liam is still missing. Deputies say he was last seen Sunday morning, in the Forest Hills Drive area of Asheboro and left the area on foot. Randolph County Chief Deputy Steven Nunn said the child had been outside with family members but was briefly left alone. When relatives came back outside after going indoors, they realized he was gone and contacted 911 just after 11 a.m.

Liam A. King is described as:

  • Age: 7 years old

  • Height: Approximately 3 feet, 5 inches tall

  • Weight: Around 55 pounds

  • Hair: Shoulder-length brown/black hair

  • Eyes: Brown

The Sheriff’s Office emphasized that Liam has cognitive impairments, is non-verbal, and may run if approached. Authorities are urging anyone who sees him not to engage directly, but instead call 911 immediately.
