22-year-old Apree Leak was fatally shot at a Circle K gas station on South Tryon Street in Charlotte, leaving community members devastated as police search for answers.
The shooting occurred around 3:30 a.m. on Nov. 12, at the Circle K—a popular 24-hour stop for drivers in the Charlotte area, right in front of the Ayrsley shopping center and just off of I-485. According to reports, Leak was sitting inside his vehicle when he was shot.
Following the shooting, someone flagged down a passing ambulance. Despite paramedics’ efforts to save Leak, he tragically died at the scene.
Police said they do not believe the shooting happened at the gas station.
No arrests have been made, and no suspects have been identified.
