Deputies recovered a submerged Pontiac in a Nash County creek tied to a 2003 missing person case in Nash County, reigniting the investigation into Travis Lamont Lynch.
WHAT WE KNOW: A TIPSTER CHANGED EVERYTHING
On December 10, 2025, around 2:45 p.m., a citizen spotted a vehicle submerged near Old Middlesex Road @ Turkey Creek. When deputies rolled up, they confirmed it wasn’t just any car — it was the Pontiac linked to Lynch’s missing person case. The NC license plate, RZS-4814, matched exactly.
Lynch, who was living in Wilson, NC at the time, had told his girlfriend he was heading home in the early morning hours of Christmas Eve. He never made it — and he never contacted his family again.
The recovery of his car now turns a 22-year-old cold case into an active investigation.
VEHICLE PULLED FROM THE WATER — FBI NOW INVOLVED
The Pontiac was successfully retrieved from the creek, and let’s just say… the photo tell a story of years lost underwater.
The Nash County Sheriff’s Office says the vehicle is now being processed for evidence, and Sheriff Stone has officially called in the FBI’s Submersion Evidence Team to comb the area for more clues.
