Boyfriend charged with first-degree murder
On Monday, August 12, Goode’s 27-year-old boyfriend, Kevin Zaire Lavaughn McLean, was arrested in Fayetteville and charged with first-degree murder.
In a court hearing on Tuesday, prosecutors revealed that they discovered Goode’s bag next to her body, which contained items linked to her boyfriend, Kevin. Surveillance footage from nearby residents reportedly shows Kevin trailing Goode down the street, where they allegedly paused at a park to talk.
Moments later, Kevin allegedly shoot Goode multiple times, resulting in her death. Following the shooting, he allegedly walked back to his apartment on Queensberry Court.
“The video footage captured [Kevin McLean] that had been with her walking back coming back toward that area,” said Assistant District Attorney Kelly Thompson said. “It appeared that Mrs. Goode had been shot at close distance and shot multiple times.”
Police said they are not seeking any additional subjects in this investigation at this time.Â
Kevin remains in jail with no bond.
