Waxhaw Pastor Waymon Sykes Jordan Sr. Dies by Suicide Following Arrest for Statutory Rape

Pastor Waymon Sykes Jordan Sr., 79, of Greater Blessed Hope Church in Waxhaw, North Carolina, has died by suicide just days after his arrest for statutory rape, sources confirm to The North Carolina Beat.

Two members of the church told The North Carolina Beat that Pastor Jordan was found dead in the church’s cemetery. Sources indicate that he shot and killed himself amid growing allegations against him. Additional victims had reportedly come forward after our story, but it is unclear whether they filed official complaints with law enforcement.

The North Carolina Beat first broke the news on March 6, 2025, regarding Pastor Jordan’s arrest. Court documents allege that in January 2022, he unlawfully, willfully, and feloniously engaged in acts with a minor aged 15 or younger.

Jordan was arrested on March 5, 2025, and was released the next day after posting a $200,000 bond.
