R. Kelly Suffers Overdose at Butner Federal Prison, Hospitalized Amid Murder‑Plot Claims

R. Kelly transported to Duke Hospital after reported overdose at Butner prison

Word on the cellblock is that disgraced R&B legend R. Kelly reportedly collapsed in his cell at Butner Federal Prison on June 13, 2025 — and it wasn’t from stress. According to court docs filed June 17, his legal team says he was given an “overdose quantity” of meds while locked down in solitary confinement.

Just days before, on June 10, Kelly filed an emergency motion claiming a murder-for-hire plot involving Aryan Brotherhood inmates and BOP officials. He was immediately thrown in the hole (solitary), and the next day, staff allegedly told him to take a heavy dose of anxiety and sleep meds.

The next morning he had to be rushed to Duke Hospital, where he stayed for two days — and was allegedly released against medical advice.

Kelly’s team ain’t playing. They’re saying this was no accident — it was a setup, blaming the BOP for intentionally overdosing him, cutting off his meds for blood clots, and leaving him in a cell with no support, no monitoring, no nothing.

They’re also saying prison officials are trying to shut him up about the murder plot by keeping him in solitary and pushing him toward a mental or physical breakdown.

THE FEDS RESPOND

Prosecutors clapped back saying the whole murder-for-hire plot is “fanciful” and “deeply unserious,” basically calling it cap to get sympathy.

Kelly’s lawyers are begging for house arrest or home confinement, saying prison is a death trap at this point. A judge is expected to address both the overdose and murder plot claims soon. No comment yet from the Bureau of Prisons on the overdose.
