A sheriff’s deputy in North Carolina, Malik Tyshon Thornton, has reportedly been charged after a woman informed the police that he restrained her on a bed in an attempt to sexually arouse her.
Police warrants stated that Thornton’s actions were forceful and against the victim’s consent. He is now facing a felony charge and three misdemeanor charges in Wake County.

The Wake County Sheriff’s Office has placed Thornton on administrative leave.
Court documents indicate that Thornton is charged with:
– Felony assault by strangulation
– Misdemeanor sexual battery
– Misdemeanor assault on a female
– Misdemeanor domestic violence
The documents also allege that during the incident, Thornton kissed the victim’s neck and strangled her with his hands. Additionally, it was noted that there were “bruises around her neck” consistent with strangulation and marks from a necklace.
According to reports, Thornton has been employed by the Wake County Sheriff’s Office since 2023.
