Authorities in North Carolina and Georgia, alongside local NAACP leaders, are investigating a social media threat that claims the Ku Klux Klan is gearing up to target Black Americans, particularly Black women, that could stretch all the way to the Inauguration.
According to the Charlotte Observer, a woman shared a concerning post claiming that KKK members from Lexington, North Carolina, are conspiring against Black individuals, viewing them as “easy targets.” This alarming information was relayed to her by a friend connected to the Gwinnett County, Georgia sheriff’s Office.

On November 2, the Gwinnett County sheriff’s office reported they had come across a troubling text thread hinting at possible attacks on African American women “from now through the inauguration.“ However, they clarified that they have not received any credible information regarding threats to any groups on or after election day.
“We have not received any information indicating threats to any group(s) on or after election day,” the sheriff’s office said.
Lexington Police aware of KKK message circulating
Lexington Police were alerted to the potential threat “a few days ago,” as confirmed by city spokesman Derwin Hargrave, who said that they are still assessing the situation.
“We have not been able to confirm that it’s an actual threat, but we’re remaining vigilant,” he stated.
The Davidson County Chapter-Lexington Branch is also investigating the matter, with president Charles Clark mentioning that they just received the report and are still determining its credibility.
