NC State sorority deepfake scandal
More than two dozen sorority members at North Carolina State University have fallen victim to a disturbing deepfake scandal, with their images manipulated and uploaded to a p*********y website, according to a search warrant.
NC State police launched an investigation after receiving reports in October 2024 that explicit content featuring students’ faces artificially superimposed onto nude bodies was circulating online. The manipulated images were uploaded to EroMe.com, the warrant states.
Authorities have identified at least 28 victims in the case. Police have a lead on a Gmail user suspected of posting the content and have requested records from Google related to the user’s account.
An NC State police spokesperson confirmed that the case remains an active investigation, with authorities working to gather more details. Law enforcement officials urge anyone with information to come forward as they work to identify the perpetrator and hold them accountable.
