Fulton County attorney Kayla Bumpus finds herself at the center of a “Kayla Bumpus YSL marriage” scandal. The internet has been buzzing with rumors that she is being passed around like a blunt having being involved with her former client, Kenneth Copeland, aka Lil Woody.
However, marriage documents reveal that she is actually married to Shannon Bernard Jackson, also known as Shannon Stillwell, who is currently a defendant in the YSL RICO trial.
Shannon’s lawyer, Max Schardt, took to X (formerly Twitter) this week to defend his client, insisting that the Shannon mentioned in the marriage documents is not the one everyone is talking about. It seems he’s employing a classic courtroom strategy, suggesting that the name on the marriage certificate could belong to “anybody.”
But let’s not kid ourselves—the names match up perfectly, and the odds of someone randomly digging through Texas’ register of deeds to find Kayla’s marriage license seem pretty slim.
Adding fuel to the fire, a Twitter user chimed in, claiming that Shannon was found with a phone containing text messages exchanged between him and Kayla. While we can’t vouch for the authenticity of that claim, it certainly adds a layer of interest to the situation, especially if those alleged messages hold any truth.
Kayla Bumpus YSL Marriage Rumors: Attorney Stays Silent
As for Kayla, she appears to be clout-chasing struggling to maintain her reputation while her law practice flops. In a YouTube video, she expressed frustration over the public‘s curiosity about her personal life, questioning its relevance to the YSL trial. However, it’s hard to ignore that she inserted herself into the trial narrative after being fired by Lil Woody on live television.
Despite her failed addiction to stay away from the YSL trial, she later returned to testify about a questionable ex–parte meeting involving the state, Judge Crooked Ural Glanville, and Lil Woody—an encounter that excluded the defendants and their attorneys. Kayla’s testimony about the meeting was a rollercoaster, and some of her claims on YouTube were later contradicted in court, leaving her looking rather foolish as the courtroom drama unfolded in front of thousands people.
Kayla Janae Bumpus & Shannon Bernard Jackson
According to Texas court documents we managed to grab, Bumpus and Jackson applied for their marriage license on August 12, 2024, tied the knot on August 25, and had their marriage officially recorded on September 2.
While some may notice the “unofficial” label on the license, it simply indicates that we’re looking at a digital version meant for personal use, not the certified legal copy that comes from the county clerk’s office.

WHAT IF?
It’s unclear how long Kayla and Shannon have been talking or if they decided to get married because they sense a “NOT GUILTY” verdict approaching in the longest trial in Georgia’s history. Another thing… since Bumpus has a place in Texas, it could be a good place for Shannon to law low from Atlanta if he is acquitted at the end of his trial.
