KINSTON TEEN ARRESTED IN SHOOTING THAT WOUNDED 12-YEAR-OLD

Kinston police wasted no time snatching up the suspect in a weekend shooting that left a 12-year-old boy with a bullet wound in his arm. Now, the suspect has been hit with additional charges, including attempted murder.

According to investigators, it happened Sunday afternoon, August 10, on the 1700 block of Dixon Street. Police say shots rang out, and that’s when the young boy was hit. He was rushed to the hospital and is expected to recover — but cops say he wasn’t even the intended target.

WHO POLICE SAY PULLED THE TRIGGER

Kinston detectives identified 18-year-old Shyawnah Harris as the suspect. Early Monday morning, August 11, officers pulled up to her crib and took her into custody without any drama.
