Durham NC Teen Arrested After Deadly Shooting Outside Raleigh’s Patio Nightclub That Left One Man Dead

A 19-year-old from Durham has been snatched up by police after a double shooting outside a Raleigh nightclub left one man dead.

The incident went down in the early morning hours of August 9, 2025, around 3:30 a.m., at the Patio Nightclub located on the 3900 block of New Bern Avenue.

Police say Jonathan David Bonilla-Ramos, a Durham teenager, pulled the trigger on two men, including Christian Mercado, who sadly died from his injuries.

Now Bonilla-Ramos is facing some serious time. He’s been charged with murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, according to Wake County court documents.

No Bond, No Mercy

Bonilla-Ramos isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. A judge denied him bond, and he’s set to make his first court appearance in Wake County on September 2, 2025.

Authorities say the investigation is still ongoing, and more arrests could come down the pipeline depending on how deep this situation goes.
