The Cornelius Police Department is mourning the tragic and sudden death of one of their own. Officer Gabriel Stainback, a newly sworn-in officer, was struck and killed by a vehicle while riding bicycles with his wife Saturday afternoon in Concord, North Carolina.

Officer Gabriel Stainback was a recent graduate of the Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) program, officially sworn into the Cornelius Police Department in December 2024.
