Raleigh police say they arrested a Cary preacher early Tuesday morning after catching him soliciting prostitution during a traffic stop.
According to the Raleigh Police Department, officers pulled over 50-year-old Baber George around 1:20 a.m. for a moving violation. During the stop, investigators say they uncovered evidence that George was involved in soliciting prostitution.
George, who describes himself on Facebook as “a voice for the voiceless,” according to WRAL News, is known in local religious circles as a preacher and human rights advocate.
His social media lists ties to a church called God is Alive TV—although no physical location or valid website appears to exist for the organization.
Beyond his preaching, George identifies as the CEO, president, and international ambassador of the nonprofit Implementation of Universal Declaration of Human Rights (IUDHR), Inc.
The organization, according to its website, promotes and protects basic human rights across the globe.
His LinkedIn states that he studied theology at Full Gospel Assemblies Bible College—believed to be a reference to FGA Theological Seminary in Pakistan, one of the largest Pentecostal-charismatic seminaries in that region.
George was booked at the Wake County Jail but later released after posting a $3,000 unsecured bond.
