23-year-old Tiffany Cossey was fatally shot by her mother, 45-year-old Victoria Crosby, during an argument at Crosby’s residence on Rainmaker Street in Linden, North Carolina. The shooting occurred on December 28, 2024, and stemmed from a dispute over money for a cell phone, according to police warrants.
911 dispatchers received a frantic call where someone was heard shouting, “Get the gun out of my face.” Moments later, a second call came in from Ozara Shaw, Tiffany’s sister, who reported that her mother and sister were arguing, and Tiffany had allegedly assaulted their mother.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they found Tiffany Cossey deceased in a car parked in the driveway. Court documents revealed that Tiffany and her boyfriend had gone to Victoria’s home to collect money. The situation escalated into an argument outside the house, during which Tiffany retrieved a car jack from her vehicle and threatened to damage property after Victoria refused to give them the money.
Mother Charged with Murder of Daughter in Linden North Carolina Shooting
According to warrants, Victoria retrieved a gun, preventing Tiffany and her boyfriend from leaving. Victoria reportedly began striking her daughter with the firearm through the car’s passenger-side window. When Tiffany tried to open the car door, her mother allegedly shot her in the chest, resulting in her death.
Victoria was arrested and appeared in court on December 30, 2024. She was charged with murder and held on a $1 million bond. The court also ordered her to avoid contact with Tiffany’s boyfriend.
The case remains under investigation, with authorities continuing to piece together the case.
