(Jacksonville, North Carolina)– Public schools all around the nation are becoming dangerous every day, especially in Onslow County, North Carolina.
I believe that the safety measures that Onslow County Schools currently have in place to protect your child is ineffective.
Having a School Resource Officer at schools should not be the only safety measure. There should be metal detectors, backpack searches, personnel searches, shoe searches, hat searches, all kinds of searches to ensure the safety of students. And I believe, these are safety measures that Onslow County Schools have yet to approach.
A Jacksonville mother could have lost her child Friday in an Onslow County School. Erinika Morrisey took to Facebook Friday about her child being missing. In her Facebook post, she said that “some kids had him in the bathroom with a gun to him.” She also included a Snapchat screenshot of her son with the gun to him in the post.
Morrisey said she believes her son went missing, because he was scared. (Referring to what happened in the school bathroom earlier that day.)
Saturday, Morrisey took back to Facebook to let everyone know that her son had been found.
The incident happened at Jacksonville High School.
Morrisey said she did speak with school officials and law enforcement.
Onslow County Schools have not released a statement regarding the incident, and being that it is the weekend is inexcusable.
