A Raleigh mother needs our prayers after she loses a son and her mother days apart from each other.
That mother son, Jaylyn Kareem-Jerell Bryant, 15, was hit by a car that did not stop on Rock Quarry Road Tuesday morning while he waited for his school bus. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died.
Just days before his death, he was the pallbearer at his grandmother’s funeral who was also hit and killed by a car as she was leaving a store on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Police said the driver involved in this particular accident stopped.
I am barely holding up. I can’t take anymore, I just need prayer, I need comfort, I have my family here, but I need everything possible, Jaylyn’s mother, Alicia Bryant said.
The bastard responsible for hitting the 15-year-old and then running away from the scene is 62-year-old John Edward Leach. He has been charged with felony hit-and-run resulting in death and obstructing justice, according to police.
The sleazebag lied to police and told them that the damage of his car was a result of him being the victim of a hit-and-run crash at another location, and also told officials his vehicle had struck a pole in the roadway.
Leach has since bonded out of jail on a $60,000 bond.
