A Raleigh man is in jail with no bond after the 1-year-old boy he had indecent liberties with died Saturday.
Michael Buchanan, 23, of Washington D.C., was charged Thursday with one felonious count of child abuse inflicting serious physical injury.
Buchanan took “indecent liberties” with the child, causing the back of the child’s skull to fracture which led to a brain bleed, according to court documents.
Indecent Liberties With A Child:
Indecent Liberties Law and Legal Definition. Generally, when a person is charged with taking indecent liberties, the liberties must be taken in the physical presence of the child, but physical contact is not required. Exposing one’s private parts to a child with sexual intent may constitute the crime.
The 1-year-old died Saturday evening and officials later upgraded Buchanan charges to murder.
He is in the Wake County Detention Center with no bond.
