A North Carolina man is barricaded inside a home after he shot three Wayne County deputies after they attempted to serve him involuntary commitment papers around 10:30 a.m. Monday morning.

According to reports, two of the deputies were airlifted to ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville while the third deputy is being treated at Wayne UNC Health Care in Goldsboro.

The current conditions of the deputies have not been released.

According to Wayne County Public Information Officer, Joel Gillie, the shooting happened at a home in the 2500 block of Arrington Bridge Road in Dudley, North Carolina, south of Goldsboro.

Officials say the three deputies were wearing protective vests when they were serving the papers, which is common practice in case of an involuntary commitment.

The suspect is still barricaded inside of the home as of 3:31 p.m. and the scene is still active.

A helicopter is hovering over the area.

This is a developing story…
