New restaurant in downtown Jacksonville opens, Josephine’s Eatery & Events

A new restaurant in downtown Jacksonville is open for business.

Josephine’s Eatery & Events is the newest big thing popping in Jacksonville, where there is food for everybody, young and old.

The restaurant manager, Sammi Williamson said the name Josephine came from her brother’s mother-in-law who died of cancer and his deep love for her is why the restaurant has its name. Williamson said when you think of the name Josephine it means “good food.”

The name means good food. Really excellent tasty food at a reasonable price with a good environment because that’s just how Josephine would’ve liked it.

Williamson said she’s been cooking ever since she was 7-years-old. Her grandmother would put her on a step so she could reach the stove. She said everyone in her family loves cooking and she loves to see people eat her food which gives her joy.

I love to see people eat my food. I love feeding people, she said.

The restaurant has a versatile food menu.

Williamson said certain items on the menu allows the customers to customize their food the way they want it.

It’s important to us for our customers to build their own omelet, burger and so forth. We want our customers to express themselves and get what they want, she said.

Today, I had the pleasure to sample the food and let me tell you it is amazing. There are five special sauces the restaurant carries that have you begging for more. The five special sauces the restaurant carries are their homemade Cream Curry Sauce, Sweet Chili Sauce, Sweet Barbecue Sauce, Jerk Sauce, and Garlic Sauce.

Out of those five sauces, you can add them to anything on the menu, Williamson said.

Williamson said Josephine’s carries quality, love, and care in its food.

The restaurant also carries a food menu for those who are vegan and vegetarian.

Vegans and vegetarians are always left out, Williamson said. We have something for them here. And they are all welcome.

On the event side of the restaurant, Williamson said banks, churches and other organizations can use their event space.

We specialize in wedding ceremonies, receptions and catering all in one spot for one flat rate. We welcome anyone that wants to have their event here to give us a call. All you have to do is bring yourself and your party and we’ll take it from there.

The restaurant will also have a full bar: Top shelf and bottom shelf liquor.

We are going to have a full alcohol bar, smoothie type drinks and aside from the alcohol, a dessert bar.

Love will also be in the air at Josephine’s where there will be ‘date nights.’ People will be able to come with their spouse, significant other or even someone you just met and have a good dinner with music and vibes.

Josephine’s is located at 720 Court Street in downtown Jacksonville, North Carolina.

The hours of operations are Monday-Thursday 9 a.m.-9 p.m.| Friday-Saturday 9 a.m.- 10 p.m.| Sunday 9 a.m.-9 p.m.

Williamson said the restaurant is operating off a takeout and delivery menu for now due to the coronavirus but their full menu will be available after the pandemic.
