(Pembroke, North Carolina)– Another mass shooting could have taken place again in America and this time it would have been in North Carolina, but thanks to students at Purnell Swett High School in Pembroke, it was prevented.
Officials at Purnell Swett sent out a letter to parents on Tuesday about a tip that they received from students about a fellow student who had a loaded gun on campus.
Principal Clyde Levine told parents that the student was detained and is facing charges. The student, whose identity is not being released due to him being a minor, is a 14-year-old boy.
Levine said that the school was not forced to go on lockdown because law enforcement was able to secure the weapon immediately.
