Man Wanted In Friday Shooting At Dunkin Donuts In Jacksonville Kills Himself

A violent man who had a history of abuse towards a Jacksonville woman he shot Friday killed himself.

Charles Henry Harper Jr. is the man responsible for a woman nearly dying in the parking lot of Dunkin Donuts Friday afternoon after he rammed his vehicle into her vehicle, shot her, and then fled the scene. He was found dead at 915 Vernon Drive in Jacksonville, his last known location. Police say they discovered Harper after they obtained a search warrant to his residence Friday evening.

Mary Susan “Susie” Pryor Montag, 52, was the woman shot by Harper. She was transported to Onslow¬†County Hospital then to Vidant Medical Center In Greenville, North Carolina. Family members told The North Carolina Beat around 10:10 P.M. Friday evening that Montag was fighting for her life. Her status now is currently unknown.

After investigating the incident further, we discovered that Montag had broken up with Harper earlier Friday, which allegedly played a role in the shooting.

The shooting happened just before 2:00 P.M., and when EMS arrived Montag was unconscious and unresponsive. She was shot in the face, according to sources close to the family.
