We first reported to you Monday night about a body recovered in Hubert, North Carolina.
The Onslow County Sheriff’s Department confirmed the man found deceased was that of 63-year-old James Pannoni.
Onslow County Sheriff’s Office officials said they receive a request from Truro Police Department in Massachusetts to conduct a welfare check on Mr. James Pannoni at 101 Chasity Way in Hubert.
According to a press release, Pannoni’s daughter lives in Massachusetts and had reported her father missing to her local police department.
Deputies responded to the Chasity Way residence and found no one home and nothing appeared to be out of place. Later that evening, a uniform patrol deputy found James Pannoni’s vehicle abandoned near 147 Hubert Blvd. with the driver’s side window rolled down and the keys in the ignition.
Pannoni’s vehicle, a tan 2000 Toyota Tundra was parked in between two abandoned trailer’s near the Patriot Place Mobile Home Park.
The preliminary investigation into Pannoni’s disappearance indicated that he ha not been seen in a week and his daughter had not heard from him since his birthday in March, according to a press release.
On April 8, detectives and crime scene investigators served a search warrant on Pannoni’s residence an found him deceased.
Pannoni’s death is being investigated as a homicide.
