Friday, Americans learned that they will be receiving a “Trump Check” (Stimulus Check) but if you owe child support, you are out of luck.
President Donald J. Trump signed into law a massive $2 trillion emergency economic package that includes direct cash payments and unemployment benefits, among other provisions, for people across the country.
Americans who are overdue on child support could see their cash payments reduced or eliminated, according to Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley.
Under a 1996 law, the Treasury Department operates a program that allows it to collect overdue child support by cutting or withholding federal payments as an offset.
However, for those of us that do not owe child support will be receiving checks in three weeks, according to The White House.
