Investigators investigating the Highland Park, Illinois parade shooting say 22-year-old Robert Crimo III disguised himself as a woman to evade arrest.
The alleged killer was arrested Monday, July 4, just eight hours after he injured dozens and killed six people. Shots were reported just after 10 a.m. local time, according to the police. Investigators say they believe Crimo was disguised as a woman at some point to evade his arrest, according to NBC Chicago.

It remains unknown if Crimo was wearing the disguise when the police arrested him. He was identified as a person of interest after the BAFTE (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives) investigators conducted a DNA swab test on the weapon that was found at the scene.
Police have not yet said what charges Crimo face.
The mayor of Highland Park, Nancy Rotering, told the press that Crimo legally bought a gun before the shooting.
Crimo reportedly had a verified profile on Spotify and was known as Awake the Rapper. It appears that his account has since been removed.
He released an EP earlier this year named “Brainwashed” and some of the songs were titled “Dead Again” and “I am the Storm”.
He released three albums including Messages in 2017, Observer in 2018, and the self-titled Awake the Rapper in 2021.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of this tragic shooting.
