47-year-old Officer Wende Kerl

Another Black man has been killed by a police officer, this time in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The man gunned down was 27-year-old Danquirs Franklin, according to officials. He was killed Monday by Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer Wende A. Guerin Kerl, 47, of Huntersville, North Carolina.

It has been reported that Franklin was at Burger King on Beatties Ford Road brandishing a gun, that eye-witnesses say he never had. When he exited the Burger King, Officer Kerl felt threatened and fired one shot at Franklin killing him.

Officers on the scene said that Franklin had a weapon and was asked to drop the weapon, and after he refused, that’s when he was shot. Eye-witnesses said that Officer Kerl shot the wrong person but police say Franklin was the suspect.

We launched our own investigation into the shooting and was able to physically identify Officer Kerl.

We are gathering more information about this incident and will release it as soon as possible. Follow me on Twitter for all of the latest developing news I get @GeraldJBlessed
