The North Carolina Beat learned Friday night from a press release from the Jacksonville Police Department that Charles Henry Harper Jr. killed himself at his 915 Vernon Drive home in Jacksonville.

Harper is responsible for shooting 52-year-old Mary Susan “Susie” Pryor Montag in the parking lot of Dunkin Donuts just before 2 PM Friday afternoon on Western Boulevard.

Eye-witnesses say Harper was driving a White Suburban when he rammed it into Montag White Ford Fiesta, before jumping out, shooting her and driving away.

We were able to get a photo of the vehicle Harper was allegedly in when this incident occurred.

Police obtained a search warrant for Harper’s residence late Friday evening. They found him dead with a self-inflicted gun wound.

Rumor has it that Harper was found dead, but officials with Jacksonville Police Department has not confirmed those reports.

Stephanie Cantrell, who was at Aloha Nail Spa during the incident said that she tried to comfort Montag.

“I was in aloha nail salon right where she was parked across from. I tried helping the severely hurt lady by talking and keeping her somewhat calm but she was unconscious and unresponsive,” she said.

Susie Montag’s daughter, Anna Montag made a Facebook post early Saturday afternoon updating the community that her mother opened her eyes.
