Asheville man arrested for violating restrictions with short-term rental, taunts police on Facebook

An Asheville, North Carolina man has been charged by the Asheville police department for violating the state’s coronavirus restrictions by leasing non-essential rentals.

The fool turned himself in shortly after taunting the police on Facebook.

Shawn Thomas Johnson, 34, turned himself in Tuesday to Asheville police after a warrant for his arrest was posted on their social media pages.

During Johnson’s taunt with police, he asked if he could “get a reward” for telling the police about his own whereabouts.

Asheville police described Johnson as a 286-pound man on the warrant, to which Johnson responded that he’s actually 235 pounds. “I’ve lost a bunch of weight,” he said.

Police said the renters in the property leased by Johnson complied after they were requested to leave.
